The Battle Has Already Begun!

July 10, 2009

Here the point that needs to be highlighted is that government’s power to tax and regulate is not and should not be arbitrary and of the nature of extortion. However, practically and really it is more so in Pakistan. How can one on earth justify the levying of the tax on withdrawal of one’s own money from banks which has already been taxed at so many levels?

The Post-Restoration PML (N)

May 07, 2009

Let us leave behind what is behind the scene. We cannot decipher the exact meaning lost in the ambiguous language of the PML (N) leadership until and unless they state it clearly and meaningfully. However, we can judge on how dangerous its well-defined policy of vacillation towards Taliban is. We can see how its noncommittal position ultimately serves the interests of the Taliban and their allies, and how seriously damaging it is for the reputation and popularity of the PML (N). Last but not least, we can speak of what one of the Pakistan’s largest political parties should be doing now, amidst the Taliban’s terrorist onslaught, and how it is avoiding taking sides.

War Against Virtue

Our share of the terrorists or Taliban has perfected what we have been suffering in our country at smaller or somewhat larger scales for the last six decades: the moral policing. However, now in the shape of Taliban, the moral policing has reached its climax, i.e. it has become top most duty of the Taliban type state.

Let Us Kill Each Other!

April 20, 2009

Under the present circumstances where the perpetrators of terror have unleashed a most brutal war the hidden agenda of which is ultimately their own political supremacy, we have two options clearly open to every one of us: kill each other, or live in peace with each other.

First Drops Of The Rain

March 26, 2009

As every citizen is equal before law, he has equal right to life, property, happiness, dignity and self-respect and that these are not the exclusive privileges of the elite classes should be seen taking place at least in police stations and courts, if not in the public departments and public life. That there has come a qualitative change in the highest seat of justice in Pakistan should be felt by those who live on the edges and do not know anything about this change. They have been living in waiting for this for the last 62 years. First drops of this rain should exclusively be meant for them! That will be the beauty and the blessing of this change!

Security Lapse Or Security Collapse

March 7, 2009

March 3 was the day when whole of Pakistan refused shelter to the visiting members of the Sri Lankan cricket team. Viewers watched live air-lifting of the guest cricketers by a Pakistan Army helicopter, and news was they would be flown back to their home country without delay. Was that so insecure in whole of Lahore? Or, throughout Pakistan?

Siege From Within

When creative spirit of a nation is arrested from within, it is as vulnerable to external insinuations as is to internal machinations, and can never make any progress.

A World Without Rules

It is rules which distinguish Homo sapiens from Animalia. It is rules which separate a society from a jungle. Also, it is rules absence of which transforms Homo sapiens again into animals and a society into a jungle.
