Mr. Faisal shahzad khan belong to district Swabi Khyber pakhtunkhaw, he completed his early education from hishome district and after graduation he joined Faculty of Law University of Peshawar and graduated in 2004 and soon he started his career as a practicing lawyer at District Bar Swabi, and simultaneously Mr. Khan completed his Master degree in the subject of political science from the University of Peshawar followed by a Master degree in Laws (LL-M) from the same university. Mr. Khan got appointed as a lecturer in one of the most respectable colleges in the region which is now a full fledge university, established in 1913 and maintaining its reputation of excellence ever since. With joining he was entrusted with the important responsibility of establishing a department that could produce the best legal minds in the country, living up to the standards set forth by the college and maintained since hundred years. It was a huge task but with persistent effort, their hard work paid off and they managed to establish the department in limited time. He has materialized many of his own new ideas and made them work, they bore fruits with positive outcomes, the concept of legal clinics, and introduction to law in the university syllabus for the BS degree program are the manifestation of some of his contributions. He climbed up the ladder quickly within the organization and has been holding senior management positions since 2010. Currently, as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of sharia & Law, Islamia College Peshawar, Mr. Khan leads a team of interdisciplinary professionals who are involved in conducting researches in a number of Fields including Gender Based Violence, Tolerance through education, Human rights and Civics Sense. More broadly, he is an ardent supporter of woman emancipation, Rule of law, Democracy and restructuring the laws related to blasphemy in Pakistan so that to curtail its misuse and regulate its violators beside its punishments. Due to his initiative and ground work, the Organization (Department of sharia & Law) is now working with other public sector bodies to develop a national dialogue on the uplift of legal education and integration of thoughts and ideas, The Legal Education Rules 2015 by Pakistan Bar Council (The accrediting body) is recognition of the idea of 5 years LL-B program with a comprehensive scheme of balance growth for the youth interested in legal profession which was initiated by Mr. Khan in 2007-8.
Mr. Khan was twice elected as president of the Teaching Staff Association, Islamia College Peshawar. Representing the experienced staff of such great seat of learning was an experience in its own right and that too for successive tenures which speak volumes of his interpersonal relationship skill and a distinctive feature of his leadership qualities. Towards the conclusion of his second tenure as president in 2013, Mr. Khan was once again elected as member syndicate Islamia College which reiterated his elector’s confidence in his abilities. Mr. Khan was also elected as the first elected president of the Pak-US Alumni Network KP-FATA Chapter, it was a dormant or perhaps not as vibrant body as it stands today therefore he had to work hard to make it a vibrant and successful one, his efforts was to integrate all the members and channelize their energies in the positive and productive dimensions and establish a viable network for the mutual and sustainable growth of the alumni and civil society. Initially it was very difficult and at the same time risky to openly associate with US funded programs carried out under their banner but the flag bearer Khan showed Great Spirit and were able to neutralize many fears and create a soft and acceptable image for PUAN in the trouble some areas like KP and Fata.
It is pertinent to mention here that the topic of his LL-M research work was “The Implications of Recognition of Eunuchs as Third Gender in the Pakistan Legal Regime”this effort has already started paying dividends in the province of KP.
